Solution Solar Battery DIY Parts
Using my sunsynk battery has changed the way I think about electricity at home. Before installation, I regularly ran the dishwasher, washing machine, and heat pump whenever they were needed, then winced when the evening bill arrived. Now the 10kWh solar battery charges from my rooftop panels during the day and carries us through the expensive evening peak period.
My installer set the battery to stop discharging at 20%, leaving a reserve for outages. On an average sunny day, it reaches full charge by early afternoon. I then use stored solar energy for cooking, lighting, and hot water instead of buying power at the higher tariff. This has trimmed my evening grid use dramatically. My monthly bill is usually about 30% lower than before, with the biggest difference visible in winter when peak rates hurt most. It is not a magical zero bill, but the savings feel real because I can see the battery discharging on the app while the meter barely moves.
I did have one small scare during the first month. The battery stopped charging at 82%, even though the panels were producing plenty. I checked the monitoring screen, restarted the inverter, and waited. The charge resumed after a firmware update that night. Since then, I have only seen it once, and the support team explained that the system was balancing its cells. That explanation was reassuring, although I still keep an eye on the battery temperature and state of charge.
The most practical benefit is simple: I no longer plan every appliance around sunlight. I do try to run laundry in the afternoon, but dinner and heating can happen whenever we need them. For my household, that flexibility is the real win.
