Keeping my solar battery system practical was more important to me than buying the biggest setup available. I installed a 10 kWh home energy storage battery with a hybrid inverter last summer, mainly because my electricity company charges much more during the evening peak period. During the day, my rooftop solar panels usually produce more power than we need, so the battery stores that excess instead of sending all of it back to the grid.
The setup itself took most of one afternoon. The installer mounted the battery in my garage, connected it to the solar inverter, and configured the app to reserve 20% backup capacity. I liked being able to see solar generation, battery charge, and household consumption in one place. After several months, I’m happiest with the quiet operation and predictable evening savings. It has not eliminated my electricity bill, but this solar battery system makes our solar power far more useful and gives me reassuring backup power during short outages.
