I installed a 10 kWh home battery last spring, mainly to stop exporting cheap midday solar power and buying electricity back in the evening. My rooftop array is 6.4 kW, and before the battery, our dishwasher, heat-pump water heater, and cooking pushed the household into expensive peak hours. I had seen the phrase “kit inseguitore solare” while comparing equipment, but what I actually needed was a straightforward solar energy storage system, not a complicated tracking setup.
The installation itself was less disruptive than expected. The installer mounted the battery in the garage beside the inverter, added a backup gateway, and ran the monitoring app through our Wi-Fi. I watched the state of charge during the first week, because I wanted to understand the battery management system rather than blindly trust a percentage on my phone. On sunny days it usually reached 100% by early afternoon, then discharged after dinner.
The biggest difference appears on my electricity bill. Before storage, our summer bill averaged about €145 per month. Since adding the battery, it has settled around €82, although weather and heating use still matter. I am not claiming the battery eliminated every grid purchase: cloudy stretches still drain it, and winter production is modest. However, the evening peak-hour savings are obvious. The battery supplies the lights, refrigerator, internet equipment, and most cooking until bedtime, instead of drawing from the grid at the highest tariff.
One annoyance was a Wi-Fi drop that left the app showing data, even though the battery worked normally. Restarting the router fixed the display, and I learned to check the inverter LEDs before assuming a battery fault. Six months in, the system has been quiet and predictable. For me, the feature is not emergency backup; it is using my solar electricity later, with fewer peak-rate surprises each month.
