Now, most of that energy comes from stored solar power. My monthly bill has dropped by roughly $45–$70, depending on weather and how often we run the dryer. That is not a dramatic off-grid lifestyle, but it makes the battery payback feel tangible, especially during winter when every little saving helps.

I did have one minor scare in July. The battery stopped discharging one evening, and the Huawei FusionSolar app showed a warning about grid conditions. I checked the breaker first, but it was fine. After waiting a few minutes, I restarted the inverter through the app, and discharge resumed. The installer later explained that a brief voltage fluctuation had triggered the protection mode.
