Running my home on solar energy storage has changed the way I think about electricity bills. I normally set a reserve level of about 20 percent, especially before stormy weather, and let the Growatt inverter manage charging and discharging automatically.

I did have one minor troubleshooting moment during the first week. The battery stopped discharging overnight, even though the monitoring screen showed plenty of capacity. After checking the cables and restarting the inverter, I realized the battery communication setting had not been saved correctly. Re-entering the correct CAN communication profile fixed it immediately. Since then, the system has been quiet and dependable.

The main lesson for me is that battery sizing matters more than flashy specifications. This setup does not run my entire house indefinitely, but it covers the loads I actually use and makes my solar power much more valuable. My monthly bill is lower, and I feel less exposed to evening rate increases.
