Running my evening routine from stored solar power has changed how I think about electricity bills. I installed a growatt spf 3500 es compatible LiFePO4 Battery setup in my garage after getting tired of sending excess daytime solar back to the grid for very little credit. My system uses a Growatt SPF 3500 ES inverter, rooftop solar panels, and a 48V LiFePO4 battery bank.
The biggest difference shows up between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m., when my utility’s peak rates apply. Before adding energy storage, I would come home, turn on the oven, run the dishwasher, and use the air conditioner while drawing expensive grid power. Now the battery inverter handles most of that load. On a typical sunny day, the battery reaches full charge by early afternoon, and I usually have enough stored energy to get through the evening without importing much electricity.
My daily savings are not dramatic every single day, but they add up. During the warmer months, I have cut my evening grid usage by roughly 6–9 kWh per day. That has lowered my monthly bill by about $45–$70, depending on weather and how often I use the air conditioner. I also like seeing the battery monitor show solar charging instead of watching production disappear into the grid.
I did have one minor troubleshooting moment. The battery stopped charging one afternoon because the inverter’s charge-current setting was too low after a firmware reset. Nothing was damaged; I simply checked the manual, restored the LiFePO4 charging parameters, and watched the battery begin charging normally again. Since then, I check the inverter display once a week and keep the battery above its recommended reserve level.
For me, the real benefit is predictable evening power. The solar battery is quiet, automatic, and practical, and the stored energy makes my home feel less dependent on peak utility pricing.
