Nearly a year ago I added an enjoybot solar battery to our rooftop system, and the biggest change has been how little attention I pay to peak electricity prices. Before the battery, our electric bill jumped whenever we cooked dinner, ran the heat pump, and used the dryer after work. Now the system charges from excess midday solar production and carries our home through the expensive evening window.
During the first full month, I compared bills carefully instead of trusting the app estimate. Our average monthly bill fell from about $186 to $124, despite similar weather and nearly identical usage. That works out to roughly $62 saved each month, mostly because the battery stopped us buying power during peak hours. The savings are not dramatic every day: cloudy stretches still force some grid imports, and our winter heating load is substantial. Still, watching the battery discharge at 6:00 p.m. while the neighbors' lights come on feels satisfying.
Setup was less intimidating than I expected. The installer mounted the lithium iron phosphate battery in our garage, ran new conduit, and connected it to the existing inverter in one day. I spent the evening adjusting the backup reserve from twenty percent to thirty percent because we wanted enough capacity for overnight outages. The app makes energy monitoring straightforward, although its graphs took me a week to understand.
My useful routine is checking state of charge before running the dishwasher. If it is above forty percent, I let the dishwasher start after sunset; if it is lower, I wait until late morning, when solar generation can refill the battery.
I’ve only had one minor hiccup: one morning the battery showed “standby” even though the panels were producing. Power cycling through the app fixed it, and support confirmed a firmware update had stalled temporarily. Overall, this solar battery has made our energy use feel more deliberate, while delivering practical bill savings without changing our daily habits.
