Solution Solar Inverter
I installed a 280Ah solar battery because my evening electricity use was eating into the savings from our rooftop panels. The system is an eisenpolymer akku 280ah, a lithium iron phosphate style storage unit, paired with a hybrid inverter.
Setup was less dramatic than I expected. The installer positioned it in our garage, ran the cables to the inverter, and configured it to charge from solar during the day and discharge after dinner. I did spend an evening checking the monitoring app, because the first battery state-of-charge graph looked confusing. It showed a small overnight grid top-up, but that turned out to be the inverter reserving energy for backup rather than a fault.
The biggest change is during peak hours. Before storage, our air conditioner, induction cooker, and water heater often pushed us into the expensive evening tariff. Now the battery takes over around 5:30 p.m., and I can actually watch grid import fall on the app. On a typical summer weekday, we use roughly 8 to 10 kilowatt-hours from storage instead of buying all that power at peak rates.
My bill has dropped by about 30 to 40 percent compared with the same months last year, although weather and rates obviously vary. That is the benefit I notice every day, not just a promising specification on a brochure.
One minor lesson came after two cloudy days. The battery reached its reserve early, so the inverter switched to grid power while I was cooking. I had set the backup reserve too high at 30%. The installer helped me lower it to 20%, giving me more usable capacity while keeping outage protection. I check the app each morning.
