Buying my solar battery was mainly about avoiding expensive evening electricity rates. I already had rooftop solar, but most of my household usage happened after sunset, when the panels stopped producing. During a normal sunny day, the battery charges from surplus solar after the refrigerator, Wi-Fi, and other daytime loads are covered. The savings are best when I avoid peak-hour rates. I also like seeing the battery state of charge on the monitoring app; it makes our energy habits much easier to understand.

I did have one minor troubleshooting moment during the first week. The battery stopped discharging at night even though it showed plenty of capacity. After checking the inverter settings, I found that the backup reserve had been set to 80 percent, leaving only a small usable portion. I lowered the reserve to 25 percent, while keeping enough emergency backup for short outages, and the system worked normally again.

So far, this home energy storage setup has been quiet and uncomplicated. I do not expect dramatic savings every month, but using my own solar power after dark feels practical. For me, the biggest benefit is not chasing complete energy independence; it is reducing grid use when electricity costs the most and having a little battery backup when the neighborhood power flickers.
