Before the battery, our house pulled power from the grid every time the sun disappeared. That meant cooking dinner, running the dishwasher, and charging phones during the peak period. Now the solar panels fill the battery through the afternoon, and the battery takes over at about 4 p.m. I set a reserve of 20 percent, so it covers our evening without leaving me nervous about an outage.

The savings are real. My utility bill used to average around $185 a month in summer. It has settled near $95, depending on air-conditioning and cloudy weather. The difference comes mainly from avoiding peak-rate electricity, rather than from exporting lots of energy. I check the deye monitoring app with my coffee, and seeing the battery discharge overnight is satisfying. On a clear day, we often reach breakfast with 45 to 55 percent remaining, then solar generation replenishes it by early afternoon.

My annoying moment happened during a hot spell. The inverter stopped discharging because I had set a temperature protection limit too conservatively. Nothing was broken; I found the warning in the app, adjusted the setting after checking the manual, and the system resumed normally. Since then, I have kept the battery ventilation area clear and avoided changing settings casually.

What I appreciate most is the routine. I do not think about energy prices while making dinner anymore. The solar battery quietly shifts our consumption, and the backup function gives me peace of mind during storms. It has not eliminated my bill, but for my household, the deye 5kw setup has paid back a portion while making renewable energy much more practical.
