Solution Solar Battery
Keeping my lights and refrigerator running through evening outages has been the biggest surprise since I installed my solar battery system. Before adding storage, I sent excess rooftop solar power back to the grid during the day and bought electricity at the expensive evening rate. Now, the battery charges after sunrise and carries us through the peak hours.
My setup is built around a 3kva growatt inverter LiFePO4 Battery, paired with rooftop solar panels. I chose LiFePO4 chemistry mainly because I wanted something safer and longer-lasting than the old lead-acid battery I used years ago. Installation was less dramatic than expected. The electrician mounted the inverter in the garage, added a clean isolator switch, and explained the battery state-of-charge screen without drowning me in jargon.
During the first full month, I watched my evening consumption instead of guessing. The battery usually reached 100% by early afternoon, then discharged between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m., when our utility's rates are highest. My daily grid import dropped noticeably, and the bill was about 30% lower than the same month last year, even though we used the air conditioner on several warm evenings. That's the part I appreciate most: the battery is not just backup power; it actively shifts solar energy into the expensive hours.
I did have one minor scare. One morning, the app showed the battery at 12%, even though the forecast suggested plenty of sunshine. I checked the inverter and found the battery breaker had tripped. After switching off the solar input, resetting the breaker, and restarting the system, charging resumed. The installer later tightened one connection and said it was likely a cautious protection response, not a failed cell. Since then, I have checked the event log once a week rather than obsessing over it.
