.After our rooftop solar system went live, I added a 3.2 v rechargeable battery bank because evening electricity prices were eating into the savings from our otherwise impressive daytime generation.

For the first week, I left everything on automatic and watched the monitoring app after dinner. It showed the solar battery charging by midafternoon, then powering lights, Wi-Fi, refrigerator overnight.

I had changed it while experimenting with time-of-use pricing and forgotten to restore the setting. After lowering the reserve, the battery recharged normally that afternoon; no technician visit was needed.
That little lesson improved my habits. I now review the app once a week, especially before a heat wave, and I keep reserve enough for an outage without sacrificing evening savings.
I am glad I chose a battery rather than chasing maximum panel output alone. The real benefit is simple: daytime solar now follows me into the evening, when my household uses power.
