Solution Solar Battery DIY Parts
9 months ago, I added a 10 kWh lithium iron phosphate solar battery to my rooftop system, mainly to stop buying expensive evening electricity from the grid. Before that, my panels produced plenty during the day, but my family was usually at work or school. We exported the surplus cheaply and then paid much more when cooking dinner, running the dishwasher, and charging devices.
The biggest improvement has been the change in our daily routine. The battery charges from solar power late morning and early afternoon, then discharges automatically after sunset. I set a reserve level of 20 percent, so it still has some backup capacity overnight. On sunny days, our household self-consumption has risen noticeably, and our electricity bill is roughly 35 to 45 percent lower than last year, depending on the season.
The savings are most obvious during peak hours. I used to see the meter climb between 5 and 9 p.m.; now the inverter supplies most of that demand from stored energy. We still import electricity on cloudy winter days, but the battery reduces those expensive imports rather than pretending we are completely independent.
One small troubleshooting moment happened during the first week. The battery stopped discharging because the inverter software had switched to a conservative backup mode after a brief outage. I found the setting in the monitoring app, restarted the system, and it worked normally again. The installer also explained that the 19 batterie gehuse label in the documentation referred to a cabinet configuration, not a second battery model, which initially confused me.
So far, the practical lesson is simple: correct sizing matters more than impressive specifications. My solar battery is large enough for evening use but not so large that it sits full all day. I check the battery storage graph occasionally, but otherwise it quietly does its job, lowering bills without changing how we live.
